ANIMATION PROJECTS

Objectives:
204.01 Understand advanced pre-production methods for digital animation
204.02 Understand advanced production methods for digital animation.
204.03 Understand advanced post-production methods for digital animation.

Essential Question:
How do we apply advanced pre-production, production, and post-production methods to plan and create digital animation?

In Animate you will be hearing there term "TWEEN." A tween is an animation that is created by specifying a value for an object property in one Frame and another value for that same property in another frame. Animate calculates the values for the property in between those tow frames. The term "tween" comes from the words "in between." There are 3 types of tweens: Motion, Classic and Shape tween.

1. Simple Animation - MOTION TWEEN

Your task for this assignment is to create a simple animation using the DRAWING TOOLS. It could be a stick figure walking, a bird flying or a ball bouncing off a wall.
  1. Create simple shapes.
  2. Use MOTION TWEEN for your animation to move.

3. Morphing TEXT - Shape Tween

STEP 1
  • In Frame #1, add the text you want to start the morph with. Select the text and break it apart, either by Modify>Break Apart (TWICE) or CMD+B (TWICE)
STEP 2
  • Go to Frame #20 (the higher Frame you go, the longer the morph). Add a Keyframe (right click) and another text you want to morph into. Select the text and BREAK APART TWICE
STEP 3
  • Select Frame 1. Right click and choose Shape Tween. The box changes to green, along with an arrow.
STEP 4
  • Test your movie (CMD+Return or Enter)

4. Flying Plane Animation

You will need to downloand the plane and the helicopter to right to animate in a simple motion path in Adobe Animate. This will give you a warm up for animation. You will need to create a sky background with clouds that move using a classic tween with different levels of alpha. You will also need to add additional elements to give  your animation a well rounded look. Each animation will need to done at 24 FPS and you will need to use a minimum of 60 Frames.

Look at the example to give you a general idea of what to do. HOWEVER, your animation should be much more complicated with additional animations and effects to give your animation depth and interest. YOURS SHOULD NOT LOOK LIKE MINE, at all!

As you work, save your project and name it lastname + firstname + period# + flyingplane. When you are finished, export your animation to a .mov.
