10 SECOND ANIMATION CHALLENGE

Using the information that you have learned, storyboard a 10-15 sec animation (240-360 frames). Check in with Ms. Chuck to ensure that your story is achievable in the time available. Animate a complete animation from your storyboard, if you make changes edit your storyboard as well.

Theme: Create a Hilarious Animal doing something funny!
Remember to keep the length and drawings to something manageable in the remaining time.

Important Note: All animations are to be completed and submitted in the "Dropbox"

Purpose: The purpose of the assignment is to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge in 2D Character Animation through practical and theoretical application.

Skills and Knowledge Being Assessed: Participants will be challenged to detail and plan the development of a completed story, 10 seconds in length. The students will focus on the participants’ ability to tell a story. By storyboarding, the students outline their idea. Students will then bring their story to life by creating, animating and compositing the scenes outlined in their storyboard. This represents the animation process.

Deliverables
  • 10-15 second animation source file (e.g. .fla) and rendered file in .mp4
  • All audio sound effects must be embedded into the rendered file
  • Storyboard
Required Elements Specifics:
  • Produce storyboards  electronically and/or on paper that sets out their proposed animation following the project provided
  • The final product will be compared to the storyboards.
  • Students must demonstrate their knowledge of the 12 principles of animation in their project.
  • Animations should demonstrate a unity of style amongst the character, environment and props.
  • There must be an obvious beginning (have a title of your story in the beginning) and end to the presentation.
  • All work is done independently.
